Episode 42: Awkward Feminist Comedies — An interview with writer and director Juani Begood

In this episode we talk with awkward feminist comedy writer and director Juani Begood. Juani has been making comedy videos since 2013 with a mission to empower women and disenfranchised people to own and tell their stories. Juani walks us through a bit of her process and why she writes and creates the videos she does. We get deep into the topics that are on many of our minds right now, including sharing #metoo and what it really takes to make money as an entrepreneur in our current cultural environment.

Awkward Feminist Comedies Episode Highlights

  • Don’t hold back, get it out. Write it, it makes you feel heard.
  • Women are sitting on an awesome amount of power.
  • If you are starting to say “I should be nice” about working with someone or having a relationship with someone, than you should block that person from your life or business.
  • Meditate. Meditate. Meditate.
  • Think about the true cost of being safe versus heading toward what you actually want. You just have this one life. What do you want to do with it? Staying safe may keep you from truly realizing your potential.
  • You don’t have to be an entrepreneur. Do what makes you happy.
